finding spiritual enlightenment through a path of discovery

Everywhere you go on the internet, you can read how to find enlightenment.   If you purchase this CD or DVD, you can learn how to find enlightenment.  I opened a magazine the other day, and for only $19.95 I can learn to find Enlightenment…. Wow!  Isn’t this amazing!  Enlightenment has now a monetary price.   How lucky am I that I opened that magazine when I did, otherwise, I might have missed the opportunity for enlightenment.  How funny?  Okay, I wouldn’t necessarily encourage this as a means of attainment.  But I would like to share a story that can give you something to think about.  Is the story I tell you true?  Or is ‘IT’ just that simple that it can’t be anything else but the truth.  All I ask is that you put your old beliefs on a shelf for the moment and open your hearts and minds to a different way of seeing…

Once upon a time [okay, in the last moon cycle to be exact], I was meditating in my Shaman hut.   I was under many distractions and disappoints over the last few months.  Meditating with the breath was the only technique that was helping me find my balance.  But today, I was probably meditating and journeying for hours with very little change in my physical, emotional or spiritual status.  What did happen as the hours crept by was that I was growing more and more fatigued.   It was becoming more and more challenging for me to stay awake and continue meditating.    The temperature in the hut was rising.  It was almost 10 degrees hotter inside the hut then in the summer sun.   I made sure that I was drinking a lot of water.  Yet I was growing more and more tired.     The hut is probably five by five feet inside dimensions.  Not a lot of room to stretch out while sitting, so I curled up on my side.  As I felt my eye lids slowly close, the sounds of a gentle summer drizzle could be heard upon the roof of my tiny hut.  A cooler breeze squeezed through the flapped doorway.  And off to sleep I went.

In dreamtime, I traveled far away to places that had no resemblance to places on mother earth.  I was met by the Wise Ones, Grandmothers and Grandfathers, the Ancient Ones… all that shared great wisdom of the Ancients.   This is one of their stories:

In the time before time, in the time of the void, many Ancients came together in a plan to bring a race of animals together.   This race of animals would be different than any that were ever created before.   They would create this race with the likeness similar to their own.  They would take the teaching that they learned from animals already created and give this new race the benefits of this knowledge. What would be different about this race of animal, that would be different than any other species of animals, is that everyone created would be unique to themselves.  That no one would be exactly the same, yet their hearts would all be connected to the Universal Oneness.  And so the Human was created.

Human (‘HU’, an ancient name for our Creators; The ancient meaning for ‘MAN’ is hand or in the hand of)  The real meaning of Human is “ Created by the Hands of our Creators”)

"HU is woven into the language of life. It is the Sound of all sounds. It is the wind in the leaves, falling rain, thunder of jets, singing of birds, the awful rumble of a tornado. . . . Its sound is heard in laughter, weeping, the din of city traffic, ocean waves, and the quiet rippling of a mountain stream. And yet, the word HU is not God. It is a word people anywhere can use to address the Originator of Life."

Harold Klemp

Once the humans were created, it was discussed that open communication between us and them would be so important.  The human creation will need us.  So it was decided that they would speak through certain individuals throughout time giving them messages to share.  Many of these individuals throughout time have been referred to as Spiritual leaders, Shamans, prophets, seers, clairvoyant or the mentally-ill.   Many religions have been created with the messages received.

All the tools one needs for personal enlightenment have always been there for those open enough to reach for it.

So how do we find these tools?  Here is the formula that was shared with me:

First obtain knowledge.  It can be found through a religious format, one’s connection with Nature, listening to those who have knowledge, books, online now, etc…  All of these venues have validity to a point.   One is not better or worse than another.  And all ways should be honored.

Second, take the knowledge and apply it to your experiences.  Honor those who have greater experiences.

Third, sort through the experiences and the knowledge.  Journey into yourself and find those ideas and beliefs that ring true within your heart and mind.

Fourth, work at living each moment of each day being true to yourself; as well as daily meditating on what this means to you.  Enlightenment comes in the moments between moments.  It’s not hard… it comes when you just let yourself ‘Be”.

Fifth, don’t look outside of yourself or look to someone else for your enlightenment.  It’s already within.  Just add the knowledge with your experiences and the application of them and you have Enlightenment.   Remember, simple is always the way to go.

Once the Ah! Ha! Moment of enlightenment envelops you.  Cherish the miracle that is you within the Universal Oneness.

After the Ancient Ones completed their lessons, I bowed in honor and I found myself waking to the sweetness of the rain and a bird sitting in the doorway of the Hut watching me…. As the little bird flew away, I realized that I was given new wings to fly.

I hope that all that read this have a deeper understanding that we can all find spiritual knowledge in so many places.  It’s more important to find it and live it, then condemning someone for not finding it in the same place you find it.  For if you find yourself judging someone else…then ask yourself… did you actually find anything.

Namaste.
